17 Months

Every month I say that I can't believe he is the age he is and again, I can't believe he's 17 months already. Before you have kids, everyone tells you how fast it goes. You don't believe them. Why would you? You have nothing to base their stories off of.

Once they are here, it's unreal. Time flies by. Literally, flies by.

I believe the first year it's about survival so you forget a lot about that year. Pictures and videos are key.

Things will get easier, they will. I never thought they would with a child who didn't sleep through the night until he was 13 months old. But once he hit 14 months, things changed drastically.

Anyways, enough about all that. Lets talk about this adorable 17 month old.

You're a ball of fire. You hate sitting for extended periods of time. I blame this on your Y chromosome. Going out to eat, forget about it. One of  us has to follow you around while you run rampid through the restaurant which leaves the other person alone at the table.

That's what happened on my most recent birthday. We did get him to sit for a few minutes when the cookie skillet came out.

 Playing with pizza dough!
Who doesn't love some ice cream on a warm cookie?

The only words you say are "Momma", "Dada" and "Papa". I can tell you want to say more but you can't quite get it out yet. I think in the next month you'll be talking much more.

Your feet stink worse than any man's foot I know. It's unreal. How do your cute little feet smell so foul?

You use your eye brows a lot more for your expressions. I know you've picked this up from us.

You love to play with your dog and terrorize him as much as you can.

Sign language is your main form of communication. Your new one is the sign for "baby". You look SO cute when you do it.

You got your 2nd haircut this month. You weren't too thrilled about it at first but after a binky and the girls water bottle, you were okay. You really do great in the chair once you're comfortable.

Getting a prize afterwards.

You have 3 full molars and I can see your 4th one coming through. Only 4 teeth in the front top, 3 on the bottom front. You're also getting your first canine, the top left one. That one seems to be giving you some trouble. I didn't even know you had 2 molars until I happened to see them one day while feeding you. The amber teething necklace is a God send.

You're mostly in 12 month clothing still with some 18 month. You were a size 4 in disposable diapers and a medium in cloth.

You've recently become obsessed with cartoons. We aren't too thrilled about it but sometimes it allows us to get something done. Your favorite is Gaspard & Lisa.

You're becoming more independent. You want to feed yourself, turn the T.V. on yourself, etc.

You wave when you poop and I think it's hilarious. I don't know if you think we don't know what you're doing when you wave to us but you wave, smile and poop. You're funny buddy.

You've recently been attached to your froggie (see above) and your blanket. It's pretty adorable!

And lastly.......you sleep AMAZINGLY now. THANK YOU!!!!! You never wake up in the middle of the night now and you can finally put yourself to sleep. As of October 7th, you've wanted to lie in your crib without me rocking you to sleep. So, that's what I've been doing and you wave to me as I'm walking out of the room. You don't make a peep, you roll around and put yourself to sleep. I love it. My back loves it. After rocking you for well over 16 months, I feel SO accomplished that you've somehow figured out you can do it yourself.

You're one amazing little boy. You light up my world more than you'll ever know. I love the person you are becoming. You've got to be the sweetest boy I know. You give me hugs and kisses all the time even without having to ask for them. When we're all together, you want nothing besides Mommy. You've got my heart little man and I want you to have nothing but the best. You're the greatest gift God has ever given me and I think Him every night for you.

I LOVE you more than the world.
